> Call in the mounties
You think it's a joke... in Canada, the mounties really do investigate some
computer crimes. A friend of mine supported a university system which was
used by a hacker as a stepping-stone to penetrate a Canadian system. He got
a call from a man who identified himself as an officer of the Royal Canadian
Mounted Police and asked questions about the compromised system.
"Oh, yeah? Prove it -- put your horse on the line" (*).
I love the mental picture of a mounted mountie in full dress with a laptop.
(*) OK, so he didn't actually say this, but it would have been cool.
