Sad to see local news coverage of Gates' visit today at MIT to celebrate
the 35th anniversary of the Laboratory for Computer Science.

Predictably, the press angle focused on Gates' honking donation to help
build "a computer research laboratory". And as a result, the impression
was that MIT held an event to celebrate this philanthropic act.

And perhaps most disappointing is the lack of focus with "LCS 35". Not
one mention of what LCS stood for, unclear logo, embarassing brand
dilution, no press coverage. Check out News.com/Reuters' lame coverage
http://www.news.com./News/Item/0,4,35026,00.html

Not discounting the efforts of LCS' staff and consultants brought in
specifically to publicize this event, I wonder how they expect people to
get involved...not one press release has been issued via PR- or
BusinessWire within the past two weeks. Out of sight, out of mind.

Well, at least there's a link off the MIT home page.

Too bad.
