Sure Stupidity

Okay, so I go out of my way to buy a Sony505GX [1],
soon to be my first ever computer.

I read in PC Week that the CDROM that comes bundled
in the multimedia pack used the one PCMCIA slot.
This basically means that all these netowrked games that
require CD access to ensure the license will not allow
use of both the CD and a network card. My question is,
only because I've not been able to find the solution
after asking everyone I know and surfing the web for
an hour, how can I hook up either an external CD
or network card to the USB? Someone's got to make
something for USB. I wonder if you can
hook either up to the FireWire.

Thinking about cancelling my order, who ever
heard of a laptop that you can't use both the network
and CD at the same time?
