What he said, with the additional point that it's easier to keep everything
than to spend time filtering the good stuff out.
I rsync through ssh to a couple different harddrives, including the archival
drive on my laptop, and write to CDR and tape.
Yes, that's 2.3GB of email. Of course many mailing lists that I can purge if
necessary, especially Linux kernel and other archives (550MB+, Yikes).
That's 192MB of voice mail (gsm) and faxes via JFax (now J2) in DATA...
I only keep the last 6 years or so online.
I have over 40 server side filters now also.
