It appears that the media exaggerated the phenomenon considerably;
search Google for "enjo-kosai" for in-depth info. Evidently Japanese
high-school students are not nearly as widely involved or as widely
well-disposed toward the phenomenon as had been previously reported.

This makes me feel better; even in the country of "Alice Club", such
activities are not looked upon as wholesome.
