DCOM versus CORBA

There's an opinionated article from Roger Sessions (a former IBM lead
CORBA architect) on CORBA versus DCOM. Here are two interesting quotes to
wet your appetite:

"The OMG consortium was held together by one common
purpose: to stop Microsoft. The OMG failed in this
effort, and is now limping along with only a few
companies making even a minimal profit on CORBA
technologies."

"Although Microsoft will always support other component
development languages, I believe Java is Microsoft's language
of choice for implementing the software that will run on the
component tier."
