In the interests of giving the conservative/pro-censorware crowd a say,
I'm forwarding Jodi's message. You'll remember that she and her husband
sued a Florida school district for *not* installing censorware:

As for the wiring-libraries-and-schools program and its problems, my
colleagues Karen Tumulty and John Dickerson wrote about it Time magazine a
few weeks ago:

Funny how the only thing I see missing from this tidbit is the
information about how this gives telephone service to schools, isn't it?
Declan, why didn't you include this information? Didn't they tell you
that?
Why don't some of you gifter writers on this loop do some real
investigative journalism for a change? Is the service free? What does
the telephone company get in return for giving free telephone servvice
to public schools?

I wonder...does this mean that if the telephone company believes
in...oh, say...abortion...that the schools will be biased in their
teaching to children matters regarding abortion? Especially when it
comes time to vote on whether or not parents have the right to know
whether or not their 12-year old little girl is:

1) taken to an abortion clinic by a teacher;

2) referred to an unwed mother's home;

3) brought to a meeting with her pastor/rabbi/priest, or;

4) given condoms (which don't always work) and/or
contraceptives (whose side effects can actually kill
you these days);

5) told that the reason she's unhappy is because she's
obviously gay (and therefore obviously in need of the
services of the nearest Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgendered
IntoPorn/IntoBestiality/IpreferFourYearOlds/
DogsForMePlease/Can'tMakeUpMyMind (fill-in-the-blank)
Service Center...

Whose ideals will prevail? The parent? The schools? The FCC?
BellSouth?
