Apparently Intel discussed licensing the Alpha design from DEC back in
the '486 days and got details of the design from them. Then they
rejected the deal and two years later brought out the P5. I suspect
that work on that had started too early to benefit from Alpha-isms but
it is conceivable that some were "adopted" for the P6...

DEC smelt something rotten after the infamous "Now we're at the head
of the class, and there's nothing left to copy" WSJ article in which
Barrett and Grove openly admitted copying chip technology. Whose?
