Silicon Graphics Inc. Tuesday announced the industry's first true
gigabit Fibre Channel storage subsystems. The subsystems, Origin
FibreVault and Origin Fibre Channel RAID, are designed for
high-performance applications and can transfer data up to
two-and-a-half times faster than the current SCSI (small computer
system interface) technology. Unlike current leading storage
solutions, the Silicon Graphics subsystems offer the first Fibre
Channel-to-Fibre Channel combination. Origin FibreVault and Fibre
Channel RAID offer an enhanced speed at 100MB per second. For the full
