The Windows 95 launch was a global media event. Now
the follow-on version is in widespread beta. And
nobody cares. Memphis (Windows 98) is no longer the
center of innovation. By missing the 97 Christmas
season, Microsoft missed its best chance to motivate
hardware makers to adopt Win98 quickly. And, worst
of all, Win98 offers no compelling reasons to switch.
Users can do all the same things on Win95 or even
Win3.1. Full analysis and links at the Web site.
