This afternoon's important session was Rhapsody and Yellow Box in 1998.
This is where we got
some information from Bertrand Serlet about the future of Rhapsody, and
about DR2 in general.
The main goals of DR2 are:
improved user experience
Mac OS blue box compatibility
OS improvements
Yellow Box
Java
DR2 is considerably optimized over the DR1 code.
The improved user experience consists of an improved installation process,
which includes Setup
Assistant's that walk you through setting up your network, an account,
your admin password,
and more. DR2 uses the Charcoal Appearance that is common with Mac OS 8.
They've really
concentrated on the consistency of the look and feel.
