WASHINGTON (AP) -- A federal appeals court ruled Tuesday that antitrust
restrictions a judge placed on the sale of Microsoft's Windows software do
not extend to the upcoming release of Windows 98, the company said.

The decision means that, barring further action by the Justice Department,
the company can ship its updated Windows software, Windows 98, this week and
require computer makers to include Microsoft's Internet browser.

However, the Justice Department and a group of states investigating
Microsoft are expected to file a broad antitrust complaint this week that
still could interfere with that shipment.
