greetings programs,

My name is Tim Reid, and I am a 25 year old layabout currently living in
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. I have been online since my dad brought home a
Lisa and a 1200 baud modem in 1983 and my first exposure to programming
was basic on a Timex Sinclair 80 (which I still have with the 16k RAM
expander!) but my first love was Hypercard. Ah, Hypercard...

My interests are fairly few and mostly center around learning new things ,
enjoying my friends, and being creative wherever I can. About 6 months or
so ago I decided I needed to focus my attention very closely on obtaining
a solid footing with java and the whole of information system theory (yay
Ted!). So far, so good.

Which brings me to why I am here - I am looking for people with which to
discuss my ideas for a distributed object platform based around Voyager
schlepping around XML documents (be they documents, agents, or what have
you). What I hope to achieve is pretty hazy but I think it will look a lot
like IE4 with Active Desktop and feel a lot like shell scripting in UNIX
with a bunch of your favorite perl scriptlets.

My main motivation for doing this is to provide free high power
alternatives to the piles of slow, expensive, incompatible, and
mercilessly complex systems that are common today so that the entire world
can communicate effectively, not just us rich white guys.

EOL,

TiM
