What Happened With the Palm Beach County Ballots?
Three Palm Beach County voters filed suit on Wednesday to set aside the
presidential election results from the county and hold a new election in two
weeks. They claim the ballot, which had been redesigned with bigger print to
accomodate the many older voters in the county, confused them. Officials
threw out 19,120 ballots before counting them because two candidates were
marked for president. (On the Senate portion of the ballot, only 3,783
voters made the same mistake.) In addition, Pat Buchanan received 3,704
votes in the strongly Democratic county, nearly 2,700 more than he received
in any other county.
