My main issue is that almost ANYthing can be, or can be made,
a weapon. Getting all wrought up over a weapon disguised as
X is foolish, self-limiting, and a waste of effort -- because
some ingenious person will start disguising it as Y in
a moment, and you have to start all over again.
If someone has evil intent and possesses (or can get) a weapon,
it won't matter what the weapon looks like. And it doesn't matter
if the weapon is illegal. Such persons will obtain a
weapon regardless, and by definition are not paying attention
to the law, so the only impact of such laws is on people who
DON'T have evil intent and are law-abiding. Which is oppression.
