Hey, this thread is three years old, but anyway Sun has finally
launched the UltraSPARC III, at 600 and 750 MHz. A 900 MHz version is
promised to be shipping next year.
They have caught up most of the performance lag they had accumulated
for years and leapt over some competitors. Not up to Alpha performance
levels of course, but pretty cool nonetheless.
