[Man, now THIS is something I could really use in my dating life :-]

* United Airlines has launched a new short-haul, off-peak award
in its Mileage Plus frequent flyer program. For 15,000 miles per
person, a Mileage Plus member and guest can travel roundtrip to any
destination within 750 miles.

[Even better news:]

United Airlines [UAL] will not be far behind its German partner.
The U.S. carrier is soon planning to inaugurate what it terms E-fares.
Through its new program, customers can indicate travel preferences and
United will "push out" fare sales for only those select destinations.

[growing a SMALL base:]

Companies such as American Express [AXP] already are seeing a 20 to 30
percent increase month-over-month in their web site travel bookings.
Potential for growth is even greater on the corporate side. AmEx
estimates that by the year 2000, 20 percent of all corporate
reservations will be made online. Today, roughly a dozen corporate
reservations a week are made through all the corporate reservations
systems available on the market combined.
