OMG Internet SIG Recommendations

At a recent meeting in Tampa, the Internet SIG of the OMG (led
by Craig Thompson and Shel Sutton) produced a set of recommendations
that raise many important issues for anyone interested in future
integration of object and Internet technologies. The recommendations
are available at http://www.objs.com/isig/mtg09.htm#FinalRecommendations
or http://www.amsinc.com/cjava/omg-isig.htm. Feedback on the many
recommendations would be very valuable for the OMG. I believe that the
questions raised must be addressed for the next generation of Object
and Web architectures.

The OMG and other organizations are also grappling with the concept
of "Business Objects". There is a large gap between the developers
and the theorists in this area. One of the purposes of the OOPSLA
Midyear Workshops in Applied Object Technology is to bring together
both groups to encourage the rapid development of useful implementations.
Information is available at http://www.amsinc.com/cjava/oopsla. The
deadline for position papers is April 1.
