Seriously, IBM's ace in the hole here might be its consulting arm. IBM is
investing significantly in creating datacenters around the world, the idea
being that they can offer value-added hosting by both providing the 7/24
reliability, as well as deep knowledge about the particular service (because
they wrote it initially). The parallel computing part seems similar -- it
might allow IBM to go sell parallel computing services to large customers.
