death by software engineering

Ok, I'm hacking for fun within an established project. This should be quick and
easy, except that the coders are so incredibly conscientious that every single
line of code is a maze of config files, flag Interfaces, constant declarations
located elsewhere, names of constant declarations loaded elsewhere that are
themselves loaded elsewhere, etc. So, in full whiner mode, I have this point to
make about software engineering: when your your wrappers have grown wrappers
it's time to switch to decaf.
