Well, no, there's a small effort barrier, which in practice would keep
out a large number of kooks & spammers.
But I'm against that, because it would also keep out a large number of
people who would otherwise pop in for a thread. There have been good
examples of drawing interested parties into a discussion on FoRK just
by CCing them. This just doesn't happen if someone needs to register
& then unregister.
