I find that if I sleep 3-5 hours a day for extended
periods I start "napping": short 5-15 minutes naps
that still leave you refreshed.
I also find "cycling" sleep patterns useful: sleep
from 3-8am or 10pm-1am for a couple of weeks at a time,
then switch.
