Nothing to do with ego or the net.
It has to do with the established PTB (powers that be). How do you pull off
a really radical and efficient new thing without being killed off (effective
or literal death) by the PTB. I have a pile of ideas that would make the
lives of the people I know far better and save them quite a pile of money,
but I can't because I value my freedom far far to much. The people who are
ripping them off currently are the same people that control the government.
Better to live in misery then in jail.
You think we're getting 16MPG because noone can do any better? Or the tax
laws are complex for any other reason then to give accountants something to
do? Eventually there is just so much corruption and so many layers of graft
that there is no way to change anything without raising an army first.
They who have the gold, make the rules.
P.S. I havent seen anyone come up with a near-term Next Big Thing yet.
