Has anyone heard the word democracy even remotely mentioned for the new
Afghan government? Granted you need a semi-educated population first.
But all the press coverage seems to say they are setting up a council of
the local opium warlords and tribal leaders...

(yes, i know we need someone to drop all our surplus military hardware on in
another 10 years, but this seems a rather transparent setup for more
trouble)
