I find it surprising that given the vast historical and economic
differences across Asia that it is still meaningful to generalize about
"Asian behaviour." I would be curious whether there were any exceptions
to these rules about high achievement. For instance one cannot really
say that Cambodia has had an unbroken track record encouraging academic
excellence!!! And hasn't the recession shocked the workoholism out of
Japanese youth yet? etc.
