Yes, they do, especially if it's a security measure, or at least said
to be one.  Even been to a rock show in America?  Frisking for
recording devices, weapons (or dangerous items like glass), and
contraband is SOP.  After 9/11, my local theaters put up signs saying
that large bags were outlawed, although I've never been stopped with
mine.
