Does the emulation have to run? Why can't time, like the
other aspects of our universe, also be simulated? Imagine,
instead of an executable simulation, a print out that
perfectly describes its state evolution. Pages 1 through
10^9 perfectly describe the first femto-second. The next
femto-second starts at page 10^9+1, and continues
through page n, for some very big n. If you believe that
our universe might be simulated, is there any reason to
believe it is an executing program, rather than being a
very large book that contains the result of that
hypothetical execution?
