Ooh, ooh, I feel a War Story coming on ..... there I was with an 800 baud modem and a BIX account .... AND 
there was no POP in my country so I had to dial in internationally ... really thought I was getting somewhere 
when I set up my own newsfeed over a UUPC account. 

In those days being dropped in a killfile really meant something, sigh ....... green card lawyers anyone? But I 
do still get a lot of 
mileage from Usent; it's sort of like the Web, there's a lot more noise but once you learn to filter efficiently 
there's still some good signal out there. Maybe we should bring back the old bang adressing when you 
needed to know not just who you were mailing 
to but where ...
