Recently, there was a thread that talked a lot about how most conferences
are full of garbage... I have to agree :-)
I went to this in one in February in Munich... I was actually really
impressed by the quality of sessions. Not too much new, but the speakers
were all high quality, not too mcuh marketing crap, and the depth of the
talks were good... Check it out... If you want to make it a vacation, I
would definitely recommend it... And if you live near there, it's not all
that expensive (plus, if you're in Europe, you might be able to get your
employer to pay for it as things seem to be a bit better than the states
over there)...

Subject: OOP Europe in Amsterdam (June 26-28, 2002)
Dear friend of SIGS-Datacom / 101communications,
As technical chair of the OOP Europe which will be held June 26-28 2002 in
Amsterdam,
I would like to ask your help in making the event more known, especially in
Europe (also UK).
The program is all finalized and I think it is a very good one, but
especially since it is the first
time we are doing an OOP-show in that area, we could use your help in
making it known.
Thanks very much. I/we really appreciate it.
Frances Paulisch
Technical Chair of the OOP and editor of the German-language OO magazine
OBJEKTspektrum
Here's a suitable text on the OOP for passing on to friends, customers,
colleagues......
The OOP Europe 2002, an international conference and exhibition
on modern software development technology, will be held from
June 26th to 28th in Amsterdam. This event is known and respected
for providing high-quality, independent, technical information on a
broad range of topics related to modern software development, in
particular object technology including: Analysis & Design, Agility,
Project Management, Java, Web Services, .NET, XML,
Component-based development, and e-Government.
The OOP Europe 2002 offers a wide range of sessions,
all presented by well-respected experts in the field that are
chosen for their practical knowledge as well as their ability to
give excellent presentations. Coupled with the exhibition,
which provides additional possibilities to learn about the latest
tools and services, the OOP Europe 2002 offers a truly unique
opportunity to learn the latest trends that can be applied
today in this fast-paced area of the software business.
The conference includes full-day tutorials on Wednesday
June 26th, e.g. with a full-day tutorial by Scott Ambler
on agile software processes and by Andy Olsen on
developing XML applications with .NET. A keynote will
be held by Peter Herzum, Chair of the WebServices SIGS
of the Object Management Group on the OMG standard "Model
Driven Architecture". On Thursday and Friday we offer many
courses in three tracks, including e.g. Web Services between
Microsoft and J2EE, e-Government and XML, ebXML, JXTA,
UML 2.0, advanced principles of OO design in UML, using extreme
programming in Java, keynotes by Erich Gamma of OTI on the open
source platform Eclipse and Mark Colan of IBM on Web Services,
as well as case studies such as the use of XML in Forumula 1 racing.
