I vote for teaching this. It's not much used
in formal design/documentation these days,
but I see a lot of what would be DFDs on
whiteboards, if the people who drew them
knew what a DFD looked like. If nothing else,
it's useful for interpreting other people's
whiteboard scribbles. (Arguably, that means
anyone who can work at the required level
reinvents it, anyway.)
