FLASHPOINT #8: Kurdistan

I did in fact omit a likely Flashpoint:
FLASHPOINT #8: While U.S. ground forces are engaged in a bloody and
protracted door-to-door conflict in the cities of southern Iraq, Turkey
moves en masse into northern Iraq to quell a Kurdish revolt there.
Naturally aligned with Turkey in wanting to prevent the formation of a
sovereign Kurdistan, Iran and Syria join with Turkey to mobilize forces
along their borders and into northern Iraq to "stabilize" the area.
U.S. takes a hard-line stance in the matter, demands Turkish / Syrian /
Iranian withdrawal --- which they reject. This heightens tensions
between the U.S. and Turkey to the breaking point. NATO fractures,
Turkey withdraws from the alliance. Then things get REALLY muddy...
