My wife and 8 year old listen to countrymusic radio. I like some country,
Cash, Nelson, Jennings and the like, and am always pointing out the
differnces in mindset and songwritting skills.

The lead singer of the Dixie Chicks has caught my attention a few times
over the last few years. Not only is the music her band makes a cut above
the stuff on country radio they group actualy has a personality. The
singer in particular is a firey firecracker. She actualy broke ranks
from teh "God Bless America" country music industry a few months ago and
made several statements pointing out that overly sappy patriotic songs are
stupid. What she said a recently though somethign altogther on a higher
level of punch.

"Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks told a crowd out a London concert
earlier this month that, "Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of
the United States is from Texas.""

Before you can say "wheres the ammo ma" various country stations had
banned the groups musics.

"Lynchburg, VA - While Americans take their stand on war, one of Country
Music's biggest acts is getting heat for an anti-war message. Last week at
a concert in London, Grammy winner, Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks,
told the audience she was ashamed that Bush was from Texas.

Since her statement, people around the country are destroying their music,
as seen here in Louisiana. Locally, several radio stations are not playing
their music due to heavy calls and e-mails against the group.

Chris O'Kelley, WYYD Program Dir. - "More people are more angry than not
so we decided for right now to pull the Dixie Chicks music off our radio
station.""[1]

"Country radio station WBBN-FM has pulled the best-selling female trio's
songs, including its current hit "Landslide" from its playlist, said
Allyson Scott, 30, music director and on-air co-host of the "B-95
Breakfast Club."

"We've put them to rest for now," Scott said. "I don't really want to call
it a ban. We're choosing not to play them." "[2]

Fellow Country singer Travis Tritt saw fit to put the little woman in her
place...
"I feel it is one of our God-given rights as Americans to speak our minds
freely and honestly," Tritt said. "The First Amendment is one of the
things that makes our country great. However, in such a fragile time in
the world with that privilege comes the need to be responsible and mindful
of the repercussions." [3]

Having been rededucated by her peeps she has issued and appology and plans
are being made to throw some free concerts to smooth things over.

Maybe its time they go folk...techno...
