Playing with Moire patterns over at

<http://www.sandlotscience.com/Moire/moire_2.htm>

makes it look like interference has
the opposite effect: a much stronger
signal for small offsets than large.

Is there a way to take advantage of
this for feedback?  Is it how phase
locked loops work?
