Another exceedingly safe and modern design is the helium-cooled pebble bed
reactors.  Not only do they burn very cleanly and with high efficiency (very
little radioactive residue, and it is all neatly contained inside ceramic
pebbles), but coolant leaks and even violent containment breaches do not
pose much of a radiological hazard.  Even morons would be hard pressed to
make a real disaster with one.  Google for more info.
