GOOGLE REJECTED MICROSOFT BID

WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- Google reportedly turned down inquiries from
Microsoft Corp. about ways the companies might work together or even
merge.

The Microsoft (MSFT) bid was rejected in the past two months, according
to the New York. Sources briefed on the discussions told the Times that
Google executives preferred to pursue an initial stock offering.

Meanwhile, the San Jose Mercury News reported that Google was in its
own acquisition hunt with a $30 million offer to buy Friendster, an
online dating site. That offer was rejected. Venture capitalists,
instead, put $13 million into Friendster.
