Not entirely. The US has become a net importer
of NG, mostly from Canada, but more and more
from offshore. There are four NG regassification
terminals, constantly busy, and more are being
built.

Like a lot of older homes in Austin, ours uses
NG for the stove, the water heater, the floor
furnace, and the bathroom heater. But if you're
out in the boonies, away from a NG network,
propane is the way to go. It is easy to store,
and there is existing infrastructure for delivering
it.
