Not exactly. Kerry has said time and again that
he would have differently framed his protest of
the war.

The problem is that Americans are not fond
of partial wrong and partial right. They would
rather forgive someone who had a wastrel
youth, than reconsider someone whose
youthful conscience pricked them in painful
-- if not wholy mature -- manner. The former
involves only emotional redirection, without
any need to think on the issues or history.
The latter requires a modicum of thought.
