Interesting article on oil, Iraq, and US
policy:

I only half-believe the innuendo about
Cheney. I wouldn't believe it at all, except
-- well -- it is Cheney.

BTW, Dave, kudos on explaining what
constitutes an oil reservoir. That's also
why the sometimes stories about a
possible geologic origin to oil aren't
that relevant to oil production. It
doesn't really matter where it comes
from. Oil geologists look for the right
kind of strata to trap it, over sands
or dolomite with adequate porosity to
allow its flow. Anywhere between a
third and a half gets left behind, just
because of the complexities of the
reservoir. Even if the oil originally came
from the bowels of the earth, rather
than from the cretacious biosphere,
that is unlikely to change the extraction
picture in the geological eye blink
that constitutes human history.
