As far as I understand it, there is no such thing as a socialist
government model.  Socialism is the historical period during which
feudalism crossed over to the industrial revolution.  The benefits and
claims of the enlightenment were, before socialism, limited to the
nobility and its heirs.  When proto-democracies came into being the
former peasants had, for the first time, the power to make their own
wellbeing an explicit issue.  Socialism was the name of their
movement.
