Like many on here, the third volume of Stephenson's trilogy - enjoyed
the first two immensely. Incidentally there is a great Wikipedia
accompaniment to the Baroque books.

Under crime: Ian Rankin's Fleshmarket Close - a bit too much Rankin and
too little Rebus but OK. The Cutting Room by Louise Welsh, which is
very good and for all you Americans who may never have heard of him -
the ultimate in light-brain detective stuff Robert G. Barrett's Bondi
hero - Les Norton.

Particularly enjoyed The Kaiser's Last Kiss by Allan Judd, a charming
historical piece and Lampedusa's The Leopard (a classic).

Under more meaty work, try Matthew Brzezinski's Fortress America and the
Graham Greene biography by Norman Sherry.

Finally to all forksters, I've only been on this list for about six
months, but enjoy the diverse opinions and suggestions for reading.
Have a good New Year and cheers from sunny Sydney.

James
