No need, DC-DC converters can easily be made to operate across a wide voltage
range (e.g. 0-50 V) with good efficiency.

There are 12 V, 24 V and 48 V "standards". There's a yet another upcoming
standard for vehicular, 42 V.

Standards are just wonderful....
