[FoRK] Why does Google think I live in the UK?

Google seems to think I live in the UK: it transfers
me to google.co.uk when I go to google.com,
and maps.google.com always starts me out on
the isles. This seems strange to me. My IP address
belongs to a Texas company. To my knowledge,
there's no proxy between my browser and the
website. Admittedly, the current political climate
in the US has me a bit depressed. But Google
can't possibly know that, can it?
