This is a reminder that research papers for the WCRE and WICSA
conferences are due May 12 and May 13 (strict deadlines).

The week of November 6, 2005, two great streams of software engineering
will come together: SOFTWARE ARCHITECTURE -and- REVERSE ENGINEERING.

A major coordinated joint event at Pittsburgh (Carnegie Mellon) will
include:

-- 5th IEEE/IFIP Working Conference on Software Architecture (WICSA)
    (6-9 November 2005)

-- 12th Working Conference on Reverse Engineering (WCRE)
    (8-11 November 2005)

-- 2005 Stevens Lecture on Software Development Methods
    (8 November 2005, 11th award lecture)

and additional workshops, tutorials, and affiliated events yet to be
announced.

WCRE and WICSA are both working conferences that emphasize discussion
and working session meetings to advance the state of the art in their
respective fields. At Pittsburgh, the coordinated program and joint
sessions will let us explore the state of architecture planning and
what recovery of architecture can tell us about how the as-implemented
systems compare with the architect's intent.

WICSA is the world's premier gathering of software architecture researchers
and practitioners. This year marks the 10th anniversaries of the first
ISAW workshop and of the IEEE Transactions on S.E. and IEEE Software
special issues on software architectures. At WICSA 5, we will reflect on
the past decade of software architecture and identify and discuss the key
challenges facing software architects and the research agenda for our
community.

WCRE is the premier research conference on the theory and practice of
recovering information from existing software and systems. WCRE explores
innovative methods of extracting the many kinds of information that can
be recovered from software, software engineering documents, and systems
artifacts, and examines innovative ways of using this information in
system renovation and program understanding. WCRE 2005's theme is
"Recovering and Reclaiming Architecture".

The Stevens Lecture on Software Development Methods is an international
award lecture that recognizes outstanding contributions to the literature
or practice of methods for software and systems development. The lecture
presentations focus on lessons learned and challenges, with an emphasis on
advancing or analyzing the state of software methods and their direction
for the future.

Plan now to join us for this exciting joint event working discussions.
Research paper deadlines (juried papers) are:
    May 12, 2005 (WCRE)
    May 13, 2005 (WICSA)
Check the calls for papers for tutorial proposals and other workshop
deadlines.
