Agreed, FTP is dead. Killed by the firewall.

The ONLY way to get data anywhere is to tunnel over HTTP, since that's 
all that's left unblocked. This has been true at least 5 years now.

Even HTTP is now heavily monitored and filtered. Companies don't want 
people using the internet at work, it's the nuclear weapon of 
productivity, so this is only natural. Unplugging it makes far more 
business sense.

Now everything has to tunnel over HTTP encrypted, via proxies.

Who would have thought that when everyone started calling the internet 
"the web" they would be right. Nothing else survived.
