Sadly the worlds seems doomed to play out the "two choices only"
folly. Here in America this can be seen in the political debate, you
are either Demlican or Repubocrat with less than a fraction for a
margin of otherness. There are tons of examples of this right down to
the very binary WithUs or AgainstUs fights the feed the earth with
blood each day.

It saddens but does not surprise me that even at the
consumer/utilitarian level of decision making folks seem to be able to
only hold a choice of 2 in their worldviews even when it means they
need to add verbiage explain why both will chain them but one is a
more comfortable servitude.
