There's plenty of meat too.

Mmmmmeat.

In the U.S., you've got feed-lot cows and grass-fed cows (which may or
may not be fatterned up with corn on a feed lot a few weeks prior to
slaughter). The grasslands that cows graze on are generally unsuitable
for farming veggies or anything else. Fewer cows does not
automatically mean more land for raising veggies. There is no
either-or.
