Very interesting,

An interesting part of the data is the period between
1890 and 1920. A thirty year bear market in house
prices that cut real house prices in half. This really
blows a hole in the idea of real estate as a safer
investment.

The five year chart of IYR(US Real Estate investment
trusts) gives me vertigo.
