Not new. I've seen onion rubber skin suits in vacuum chambers
in old space research movies. 

They couldn't make it work. This thing is a prototype (yes, sure,
we've got better materials now), I'll believe it when I see it 
tested in space.

But a telepresence platform needs no pressurized compartment
at all...
