It never was a secret. At least, not to anyone who pays just the
slightest attention to the news. NAFTA. CAFTA. There have only been
-- oh, a few libraries worth of books and articles -- written on
economic globalization and regional integration.

Part of what makes Joseph Farah such a wingnut is that he tries to
turn what has been an extremely visible and major trend into a
secret conspiracy. This economic trend is no longer about simply
money, but instead involves secret groups who are following some
dastardly political plan to destroy Mom, baseball, and apple pie,
take over the world, and make us pray to Mecca. It's international
economics as the plot for an episode of Batman or a James Bond
movie. (Interestingly, Osama bin Laden seems to have bought into a
similar conspiracy theory regarding world economy, though for him,
praying to Mecca is the solution.)
