[FoRK] Thinking of taking an iPhone on an international trip?

There are two main routes a gadgets designer can take if they are not
wanting to openly support open development.

The first i call the Sony Effect....the company waits for folks to dev apps
not on the official roadmap or ways to use the device and then change the
devices firmware to undo their work.

The second I call Nintendofication....you hear about homebrews, hacks, devs
and such as and your response is to do next to nothing to the device to stop
it.

What is Apples track record? Legislating away the use of trash can icons and
thus clearing the playing field of smaller efforts. Closing down popular
third party hardware makers allowed by the previous company execs becuase,
well becuase the hardware is protected by Bog and all cherubs of
protectionism. You can go on to look at leaked story sources, theme makers,
etc etc.... yea so like things aint looking to horrorshow for Apple being
all chummy and peace love with the rabble.

Time will tell.
